Feng Shui (pronounced "fung shway") is the ancient Asian art of arranging objects and spaces for maximum benefit. It has been practiced in China for thousands of years, and is as complex and intricate as any science.

In Feng Shui, goldfish are considered to be baby dragons, the luckiest of creatures.

Also, the Chinese word for fish, "yu," sounds the same as the word for success... another reason they're considered lucky.
